Meet orphan Annie, a sweet little filly that lost her mother at birth to a uterine artery rupture. On the day Annie was born, our other mare Tango, went into labor and gave birth to her own baby, Luna. We took the placental contents of Luna’s birth, including all the blood and umbilical contents and smeared it on Annie. Then, while Tango was licking her own baby dry, we put baby Annie in the stall for Tango to find her. As soon as Luna was dry, Tango turned around and started licking Annie. It
