My M1 Air still runs best on Big Sur despite trying all on OSes to date, with the worst being Monterey. The same goes with my old mid-2010 MBP, best on Snow Leopard, worse on Mavericks.

Oct 28, 2024 · Speaking for myself: I'm using an M1 Mac mini – a system similar to your MacBook Air – and I don't perceive a drop in performance; I intend to continue upgrading to new OS releases in the future. (I haven't yet installed OS 18.1, though, which sounds like something of a fundamental architecture shift with the big Apple Intelligence features.

I just plugged the cable into the monitor and into my Macbook Air M1, the monitor asked if I wanted to switch to the USB-C input, and I was done. I didn't change the resolution or the refresh rate. I didn't install anything on my Mac nor does Dell have any software for the Mac.

Jun 1, 2021 · Given that the 2020 MBA is still sold in 2021, OP should at least get a supported OS until 2027. My prediction, however, is 2028 as it is M1. The Intel ones could maybe end 2027 but here, I also bet on 2028 (2022: Last year of sale of Intel macs, plus 6 years until Apple abandons Intel support). iHorseHead.

Jan 7, 2021 · The 30W charger from the MacBook Air definitely doesn't have enough power to supply both USB-C and USB-A ports on my Caldigit SOHO dock. My M1 MacBook Air goes to sleep when using clamshell mode if I plug in an ethernet adapter and then a thumb drive. I guess if the charge falls off, the power circuit thinks the MBA isn't plugged in to the charger.
