Oct 19, 2011 · Feb 16, 2021. #12. FWIW - I'd connect PS5 directly to the tv, then eARC back to the bar. Whichever way you look at it, that's the least amount of input lag possible for gaming. As stated prior, use LPCM out from PS5.... But with my atmos bar (Sonos Arc) I've got it set as 5.1 HDMI AV Receiver. Sounds all good to me.

In simple terms, yes you plug your PS5 into an HDMI input on your AVR and your TV into an HDMI output on your AVR. The AVR will pass the video through to the TV and will play the 5.1 (or 7.1) surround sound itself.
