“Love you Stephen,” Severance actor Adam Scott wrote in the comments of Colbert’s Instagram clip. “This is absolute bullshit, and I for one am looking forward to the next 10 months of shows.” Jon Batiste, the show’s former bandleader, called Colbert “The greatest to ever do it,” via Instagram comments.
John Oliver has spoken out following the surprise cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Calling the decision “incredibly sad” and “terrible,” he expressed deep admiration for Colbert and his team.
Oliver has appeared multiple times on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as well as the earlier iteration with David Letterman in 2015.
In 2023, Kimmel and Colbert teamed up with fellow late-night legends Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, and John Oliver to host the podcast Strike Force Five in response to the Writers’ Guild of America strike that put a pause on their late-night shows.
That said, Oliver is "looking forward to seeing what [Colbert’s] going to do next because that man will not stop."
