A number of weather warnings are in place today, with the Met Office predicting flooding and strong wind gusts. A "multi-hazard event" caused chaos and travel disruption yesterday.

Heavy rain and thawing snow are combining to bring flooding across the UK as Storm Bert continues to batter the country. More than 200 flood alerts are in place for England, Wales and Scotland overnight on Saturday and Met Office yellow warnings for rain and wind covering large swathes of the country are in force into Sunday.

THE Met Office has activated nine weather warnings, including two amber warnings, as Storm Bert batters the nation. Virtually every area of the country is covered by alerts for snow, rain or ice.
