The fountaining that drew thousands of views on the USGS YouTube page died down Christmas morning, according to Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, as Kilaueaʻs latest eruption pauses once again. The lava has been draining since the fountaining slowed and could be seen on the YouTube page.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - After a brief reactivation on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey announced that the Kilauea eruption has paused again. Officials said Episode 2 of the summit eruption paused just before 11 a.m. on Christmas Day.

Kilauea began erupting around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning local time at the base of the Halemaumau Crater within the summit caldera after elevated seismic activity was detected overnight.
