Emmy Awards presenter Candice Bergen taunted GOP vice presidential nominee JD Vance by comparing him to former Republican Vice President Dan Quayle. (Watch the video below.) Vance’s much-circulated “ childless cat ladies ” jab at powerful Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris, continued to invite mockery on TV’s prestigious night.

Candice Bergen opened her appearance at the Emmys, to present the comedy actress category, with a comparison of JD Vance’s attack on “childless cat ladies” to then-Vice President Dan Quayle’s election year fight with Murphy Brown.

While presenting the award for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series, the "Murphy Brown" star connected a 1992 controversy involving Vice President Dan Quayle to more recent comments made by Donald Trump's current Republican running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance.

Bergen is perhaps best known for playing the titular character in “Murphy Brown.” In her brief remarks, she recalled that her character, an unmarried news anchor, was rebuked by Vice President Dan Quayle in 1992 after she gave birth to a baby boy.
