A suspect in a Columbus homicide was shot by police while fleeing with a rifle and is now in stable condition.

A Columbus police SWAT team was surveilling Ricardo Ramirez, a suspect in a fatal shooting when a K-9 officer attempted a traffic stop on his car just after 3 p.m. Wednesday in an apartment complex parking lot in the 6000 block of Cooper Colony Drive. Ramirez was a passenger, and an unidentified female drove the car, police said.

The Columbus Division of Police has identified the person killed in a shooting on Friday in south Columbus as an 18-year-old man. Police were called to the 2900 block of Southfield Drive on a report of a shooting around 1:15 p.

The Columbus Police Department arrested 53-year-old Cassandra Perry at 1518 Martin Luther King Street. Perry is the mother of Martez Meeks, a shooting suspect on the run after a bullet hit a tire on a Columbus school bus. Perry has been charged with accessory after the fact in reltaion to the ongoing investigation.

The Columbus Division of Police has identified two of its officers who shot a 16-year-old suspect Wednesday, and both have previously been involved in deadly encounters. On Thursday, CPD named Officer Brian Carter and SWAT team member Matthew Liford as the pair who fired their weapons while pursuing a teenage murder
