Chris Weidman revealed he won’t be fully compensated after his UFC 309 fight was canceled last minute. Weidman (16-7 MMA, 12-7 UFC) was scheduled to fight Eryk Anders less than two weeks ago at Madison Square Garden in New York, but the fight was canceled on the night when Anders fell ill and wasn’t cleared to compete.

Weidman's last octagon outing at UFC Atlantic City earlier this year ended in a controversial fashion. The 40-year-old secured an unanimous decision win against Bruno Silva, however Silva accused Weidman of intentional eye pokes which led to his defeat.

Just a few days after their fight cancelation, Chris Weidman and Eryk Anders have signed a deal to fight at UFC 310 next month.

The native New Yorker was a major presence during the UFC’s lobbying push to bring professional MMA back to the Empire State in 2016, but he is 0-2 competing at the Garden.
