Bill Nighy has said holding a “slippery baby” when filming a Caesarean section scene for his new film Joy was a “very edgy day”.Based on a true story, the drama follows three pioneering British scientists in the 1960s and 1970s and their struggle to develop IVF.

Despite a long and varied career, Nighy confessed to yearning for an action-hero role. “I’d love to be an ancient warrior or a man with a small superpower in a lounge suit,” he joked, lamenting the lack of scripts for someone of his age.

Nighy's co-star James Norton echoed his hopes for the movie to shine a light on Jean's work during the 1960s and 1970s, calling the decision to focus on her as a "stroke of genius" from Jack Thorne and Rachel Mason, who developed the story.
