Apple plans to release an updated Vision Pro headset with its as-yet-unannounced M5 chip in 2025, according to Apple supply chain analyst

That’s according to respected industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who posted on X that there will be a new, M5-powered Vision Pro launching in 2025. However, it's going to be the only head-mounted device Apple will release in the near future – Kuo says that the cheaper model has been "delayed beyond 2027".

New designs for Apple's Vision lineup could help the company find new customers looking for a lower price tag or a lighter, sleeker wearable for their face.

Apple is also said to be exploring a push into smart glasses with an internal study of products currently on the market.

The headset will likely be priced between $1,000 and $1,500 competing with both the Apple Vision Pro and the Meta Quest 3.

The Apple Vision Pro hasn’t exactly been a roaring success for Apple, but it sounds like the company is still moving forward with a successor. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple could launch the Apple Vision Pro 2 as early as next year — powered by the still-unannounced M5 chip.

Critics are, as they do, having a field day preannouncing Apple's purported plans to "cancel" or "discontinue" the first iteration of its Apple Vision Pro Spatial Computing platform.

CEO Tim Cook recently said the $3,500 Vision Pros weren't a "mass market product." Analysts said scaling back production would be smart.
