Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell says he never expected to make a major staff change with the season still going on.

Wisconsin football coach Luke Fickell said it wasn't an easy decision, but that he felt it was in the program's best interests to move on from offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Phil Longo, who the school announced was fired Sunday.

If Fickell’s explained blueprint is the way Wisconsin goes, wide receivers coach Kenny Guiton, running backs coach Devon Spalding and tight ends coach Nate Letton are in position to work together to kick-start the offense. In reality, one of them will likely emerge as the play-caller.
