India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is named Lucknow Super Giants captain for the 2025 Indian Premier League following his record-breaking move.

The 27-year-old set a new IPL record when he went to Lucknow for 270 million rupees ($3.2 million) in the auction in November.

Kolkata: Dynamic keeper-batter Rishabh Pant was on Monday named the captain of Lucknow Super Giants for the upcoming IPL and he vowed to give his “200 percent” to win the team’s maiden title.

The announcement was made on Star Sports during the show LSG Special Live, which also featured the franchise owner Dr Sanjiv Goenka.

Rishabh Pant was acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping sum of Rs 27 crore at the IPL 2025 auction, making him the most expensive player in the tournament's history. Pant has led the Delhi Capitals in the IPL thus far in 43 matches across three seasons,

"I think Rishabh Pant is going to finish as one of the best IPL captains ever. In 10-12 years time, you would hear his name associated with MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma," Goenka said.
