The New York Yankees avoided salary arbitration with outfielder Trent Grisham and right-hander JT Brubaker (oblique) by agreeing to one-year deals on Friday. Grisham, 28, will earn $5 million in his second season in the Bronx.

Berti was projected to make $3.8 million and Mayza $4 million, according to MLB Trade Rumors’ annual estimates, in their final arbitration years. The Yankees also announced they avoided arbitration with Trent Grisham and JT Brubaker.

The Yankees non-tendered infielder Jon Berti and left-hander Tim Mayza ahead of Friday’s 8 p.m. ET deadline, the club announced, making them both free agents. New York did agree to terms on new one-year contracts with right-hander JT Brubaker and outfielder Trent Grisham.

While the Yankees came to terms with Grisham and Brubaker, they non-tendered Tim Mayza and Jon Berti. They are now free agents, giving the Yankees some salary relief after entering the day with a projected payroll of $238.8 million for 2025, per Cot’s Contracts.

The deadline to make these decisions expired at 8pm ET, with the Yankees re-signing outfielder Trent Grisham and pitcher JT Brubaker but declining to tender a contract to infielder Jon Berti and lefty reliever Tim Mayza.
