The Guadalupe River flooded early July 4 as heavy rains prompted all in the area to evacuate. Additionally, emergency responders are frantically searching

Vehicles, campers and homes were swept away along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, Texas, as storms caused a flash flood emergency in the area. A flash flood emergency was also declared in San Angelo further north of Texas Hill Country.

Kerrville, Texas was hit especially hard by flash flooding after heavy rain swelled two forks of the Guadalupe River, according to officials. Residents told CNN affiliate KSAT how the flood caught them by surprise and destroyed their homes.

The deadly floods that struck Texas on the 4th of July caught local officials off guard as the torrential rains caused the Guadalupe River to overflow in minutes.

Emergency responders continued to search for missing individuals including at least 10 girls who were attending a summer camp on the banks of the Guadalupe River.
