Caleb Banks has led the charge for a resurgent Gators’ D during consecutive wins against ranked opponents. On Saturday, he recorded a career-high 4.5 tackles for loss, including 2.5 sacks.

The Rebels nearly found points on its second drive with a eight-play, 69-yard drive that found itself on the Gators' 11-yard line for a fourth-and-one. Rather than kick the field goal, Ole Miss elected to use its short-yardage package with defensive tackle JJ Pegues, who has six rushing touchdowns on the season.

Those complementary elements conspired to create a seismic shakeup of the playoff landscape. Florida’s 24-17 upset of No. 9 Ole Miss clinched a bowl berth for the hosts (6-5, 4-4 SEC) and knocked the Rebels (8-3, 4-3) from playoff contention.

Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss threw for 323 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. He was picked twice late in the fourth quarter on Ole Miss’ final two drives. The winning touchdown came on a Montrell Johnson Jr. nine-yard run with 7:40 left in the fourth quarter.

DJ Lagway threw two touchdown passes, Montrell Johnson ran for 127 yards and a score, and Florida upset No. 9 Mississippi 24-17 on Saturday to knock the Rebels out of College Football Playoff contention.

Ole Miss has four players out for the game, including running backs Henry Parrish Jr., Logan Diggs and Rashad Amos. Wide receiver Tre Harris is back for the Rebels. Harris, who has been out since Oct. 12 against LSU, has 59 catches for 987 yards and 6 TDs in seven games this season
