Satellite footage from the National Weather Service shows a dramatic, churning cyclone approaching California. The image is a bomb cyclone, which occurs when cold and warm air collide, dropping the atmospheric pressure and resulting in a rapidly strengthening storm. For the Bay Area, this means tons of rain and fierce wind gusts.
