BLACKFOOT, Idaho — A teen from Twin Falls has been arrested and charged with failure to report a death after police said she left a deceased baby girl in an Idaho Safe Haven Baby Box in Blackfoot, the only one in the state of Idaho.

An 18-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the discovery of a deceased infant that was left in an Idaho Safe Haven Baby Box last month.

A Twin Falls teen was arrested for failing to report a death after law enforcement connected her to a dead infant found in a Safe Haven baby box in Blackfoot in October.

Authorities have identified the woman accused of placing a dead infant inside the Safe Haven Baby Box at Grove Creek Medical in Blackfoot. Angel N. Newberry, 18, of Twin Falls, was recently arrested in Twin Falls on a felony Bingham County arrest warrant for failing to report a death to law enforcement officials and the coroner.

A Safe Haven Baby Box is meant to safely allow parents to surrender their newborn anonymously and without question.
