A stampede-like situation erupted at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj as millions of devotees gathered for the Mauni Amavasya 'Amrit Snan'. The overcrowding led to chaos, and several devotees were injured.

On Wednesday as lakhs lined up to take a dip in the Ganga River at Mahakumbh, a stampede-like situation occurred, killing at least 30 devotees.

Amid a stampede-like situation at Maha Kumbh, authorities stated that peace was restored as Juna Akhara and two others prepared for the Amrit Snan. Injuries sustained during the chaos were minor, and thousands still participated in the holy dip at Triveni Sangam on Mauni Amavasya.

The DIG Mahakumbh stated that arrangements are now in place, and the ‘Amrit Snan’ will continue as planned. Despite the tragedy, millions of devotees are expected to continue participating in the festival, which spans from January 12 to February 26.
