In the bout between the two NCP outfits, seen as a contest between Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit Pawar, the latter stole the show, winning 29 seats in the Maharashtra assembly elections

Though Ajit Pawar's NCP secured a significant victory with a margin of 1.16 lakh votes, it was still lower than the margin achieved in the last Assembly election.

Ajit-Pawar-led NCP had won 40 seats and was leading in one more as of 9 pm. Of 37 seats where the two factions faced each other, Ajit Pawar faction won 29.

Ajit Pawar, leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), secured a resounding victory in the Baramati assembly constituency, defeating his nephew and solidifying his political standing. This win marks his eighth consecutive term and a significant power shift within the Pawar family.

Ajit Pawar won by 1,00,899 votes, while Yugendra received 80, 233 votes. In Maharashtra assembly polls, the Mahayuti alliance won over 225 seats out of the 288 seats in the state assembly

BARAMATI: In the high-profile Baramati constituency, Maharashtra Deputy CM and NCP leader Ajit Pawar is heading towards a big win over his nephew and NCP (SP) challenger Yugendra Pawar, whose candidature was endorsed in a big way by Sharad Pawar.

The 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections have delivered a crushing blow to Sharad Pawar, as his party - the NCP - registers its worst-ever performance.

The Ambegaon Assembly seat is one of the 21 assembly seats in the Pune district of Maharashtra. Voting for the Ambegaon seat was held on November 20. The Ambegaon assembly seat has been an NCP stronghold since the 2014 election.
