Detroit — Democrat Elissa Slotkin prevailed over Republican Mike Rogers in the election for Michigan's open U.S. Senate race following a contentious and hard-fought campaign.

LANSING — The race between Democrat Elissa Slotkin and Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan’s high-stakes US Senate race remained too close to call as ballot counting continued into Wednesday morning.

LANSING, Mich. (WJRT) - The Associated Press is calling the U.S. Senator race in Michigan in favor of Democrat Elissa Slotkin. Slotkin beat Republican Mike Rogers by about 19,000 votes or about 0.3%. According to Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, any race within 0.5% will automatically trigger a recount.
