U.S Rep. Becca Balint and state leadership in Vermont committed to protecting VT residents from Trump's executive orders

The Vermont senators and representative gave a joint statement expressing their concern of this "authoritarian" decision to freeze federal grants.

Agent David “Chris” Maland died in a shooting following a traffic stop, the FBI said. A second person killed in the incident was a German national in the country on a current visa, authorities said.

FBI Albany said they are investigating "an alleged assault on a federal officer in connection with a fatal shooting involving a U.S. Border Patrol Agent."

A U.S. Border Patrol agent was shot and killed in northern Vermont Monday afternoon, the FBI said in a statement later that evening. The shooting took place on Interstate 91 in Coventry, Vt., roughly 20 miles south of the U.

The fatal encounter occurred around 3:15 p.m. EST Monday on Interstate 91 in Coventry, about 13 miles south of the Canadian border.

Local law enforcement, state officials and the Border Patrol itself issued statements in the wake of the tragic incident.
