Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Thursday challenged U.S. President Donald Trump to make a friendly wager on the outcome of the World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Mark Wegner will be the World Series umpire crew chief for the first time, joined by Jordan Baker, Adam Hamari, Adrian Johnson, Will Little, Alan Porter and John Tumpane for the matchup between the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays.

The good-natured Canadian smack talk began before Freddie Freeman even cleared customs late Wednesday night. A citizen of both the United States and Canada, Freeman presented his American passport to the agent at the airport -- which evidently prompted a raised eyebrow.

The Dodgers' sustained excellence already puts them in the dynasty conversation, but winning back-to-back titles and three in six years would seal it: "To do that, we've got to win it."
