Sony has pledged to continue its single-player game output on PS5 and - seemingly - future PlayStation hardware. As reported by IGN, Sony finance and IR head Sadahiko Hayakawa expressed the desire to keep up single-player game release on PlayStation consoles during an investor call.

Speaking with investors as part of the platform holder’s latest financial report, boss Hiroki Totoki promised it’ll have “major single player game titles every year from next fiscal year onwards”. The company’s next fiscal year gets underway from 1st April, 2025.

Sony also commented on its upcoming portfolio of releases, saying that it will continue to have a mix of both single-player and multiplayer games. It acknowledged that while Helldivers 2 was a huge success, the cancellation of The Last of Us multiplayer game and removal of Concord provided lessons on how to move forward with its live-service plans.
