Thanksgiving came a day early at the Los Angeles Mission in downtown LA, where a team of volunteers served 4,000 turkey dinners Wednesday morning to those living along Skid Row.The annual Thanksgiving outreach took weeks to prepare and offered more than just food.

Thanksgiving is almost here, and the Los Angeles Mission is hard at work preparing a Wednesday feast for those less fortunate. Up to 4,000 people will be fed, and that requires some large-scale kitchen tools,

On Wednesday, the local nonprofit celebrated its 60th Thanksgiving banquet at its downtown location. Inside its great room, those in need received the free holiday meals as Mayor Tom McNamara and Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana assisted. The less fortunate sit at orange tables decorated with fall memorabilia lined the room.
