British survivor of sunken Red Sea tourist yacht tells how they managed to stay alive - One British survivor told of how they narrowly escaped disaster after nearly ‘choking’ in strong currents

Red Sea Governor Amr Hanafi announced that a Finnish national who was on board the afflicted Sea Story boat was rescued on Tuesday, bringing up the number of those rescued today to five, and a search is ongoing for the remaining seven passengers and crew missing.

Survivors of the diving yacht which capsized in the Red Sea spent 30 hours trapped in air pockets, one of their fathers has revealed.

Red Sea Governor Amr Hanafi said Monday that the tourist yacht, which sank south of Marsa Alam, went down after being hit by a sudden and high sea wave, causing it to capsize within 5-7 minutes.

The governor of the Red Sea region, Amr Hanafy, said rescuers saved 28 people from the vessel south of the coastal town of Marsa Alam, and some were airlifted to receive medical treatment.
