The atrocities against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh and images of the Indian flag being disrespected there has created a tense atmosphere between the two neighbouring countries.

Kolkata’s JN Ray Hospital announced on Friday that it would stop treating Bangladeshi patients indefinitely. The decision comes in response to alleged anti-Hindu violence in Bangladesh and reported insults to the Indian flag by Bangladeshi nationals.

Subhranshu Bhakta, the hospital's director, explained that while medical care is a noble profession, the dignity of the nation takes precedence.

Kolkata’s JN Ray Hospital has decided to refuse treatment to Bangladeshi patients following incidents of violence against Hindus and arrest of priest Chinmoy Krishna Das.

This decision coincided with India's call for a "fair and transparent trial" for Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, who was recently arrested on treason charges in Bangladesh. On Friday, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed India's concerns over attacks on Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh.

An official of the JN Ray Hospital in north Kolkata said the decision was forced by insults meted out to the Indian flag by Bangladeshi nationals.

The director of J N Roy Hospital in Maniktala said that the hospital has decided to stop providing all medical services to patients from Bangladesh for now.
