Dear reader: They did it anyway. Without even counting their re-signings, the Broncos are planning to commit around $106 million in non-guaranteed, total contract value between key signings Evan Engram, Dre Greenlaw and Talanoa Hufanga.

In Denver, Payton will now fill the role with ex- Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Engram Engram. After visiting the Broncos on Monday and the Los Angeles Chargers on Tuesday, Engram agreed to a two-year deal with Denver on Wednesday, his agent Mike McCartney announced.

The Broncos previously tendered five exclusive rights free agents: cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian, outside linebacker Dondrea Tillman, tight end Lucas Krull, defensive lineman Jordan Jackson and safety Devon Key. The contracts are league-minimum, one-year deals, and EFRAs are not eligible to negotiate with other teams.
