Payal Kapadia's Cannes winner 'All We Imagine as Light' will begin its Indian Oscar-qualifying run with a release in the southern state of Kerala.

Spirit Media, founded by Baahubali actor Rana Daggubati, has acquired the Indian distribution rights for All We Imagine as Light. The Malayalam and Hindi-language film will release in limited cinemas in Kerala starting on September 21,

All We Imagine as Light, a 2024 drama by Payal Kapadia, won the Grand Prix at Cannes and is shortlisted for the 2025 Oscars. Set for release in France on October 2, 2024.

All We Imagine as Light, with a primarily Indian cast and crew, became the first film from the country in three decades to compete at Cannes in the main competition this year, and the first to win the prestigious Grand Prix. At the Oscars, the film will compete in the international feature category.
