An EF-1 tornado touched down on Maryland's Eastern Shore Monday as much of the state experienced severe storms, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down on the Maryland Eastern Shore, and is investigating whether any struck Delaware, during Monday night's cold front passage.

The National Weather Service has issued Tornado Watch for parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, effective until 7:00pm EDT on March 16. This watch encompasses regions in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware,

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, issued Tornado Watch 67 at 10:50 a.m. EDT on Monday, March 16, 2026, placing much of Maryland under the alert until 7:00 p.m.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in place Monday night as the last of a line of storms moves through the D.C. area.

More than 200 flights were delayed, and 165 were cancelled at Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International (BWI) Airport on Monday as much of Maryland experienced severe storms, according to FlightAware.

In recent years, Delaware has recorded several of its first tornadoes of the season in April.

All tornado warnings affecting Delmarva counties have expired as of roughly 11 pm on Monday evening.  Warnings for Caroline County, Kent County Maryland, and Kent County Delaware expired around 11 pm.
