Episode 1, Stranger Things and Season 5
Digest more
The opening of Stranger Things 5 sheds light on a very important moment in the show’s history: when Will was trapped in the Upside Down. Fortunately for fans, Netflix released the first five minutes of the premiere a couple of weeks back, which you can watch below. We recapped and reviewed episode 1, “The Crawl,” live right here.
The first four episodes of Stranger Things 5 release Wednesday, November 26 just as everyone gets off of work – and out of school – for the Thanksgiving holiday. It’s the perfect holiday watch party event, and Netflix is keeping that philosophy alive with the release of Volume 2 on Christmas Day and the series finale on New Year’s Eve.
In Stranger Things Season 5, Holly Wheeler, Mike and Nancy’s little sister, is introduced. She talks to a mysterious figure called Mr. Whatsit. No one else can see him. Holly thinks he protects her from monsters. Her family and teachers think she is imagining it. Mike comforts her and gives her a D&D figure, and this helps her feel brave.
"Stranger Things" Season 4 ended with Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) sacrificing herself to the evil Vecna. Where is she now in the fifth and final season?
Stranger Things is one of the biggest gems in Netflix's crown, and became one of the streaming giant's earliest original hit series in the mid-2010s. Netflix's own stats say the show's fourth season alone was viewed more than 140 million times, or around 1.8bn viewing hours.
The first four episodes of Stranger Things season 5 are available to stream on Netflix now, with three more episodes dropping on Christmas and the finale airing on New Year’s Eve.
