Former GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy hosted a town hall with concerned residents Thursday in a city at the center of the 2024 race: Springfield, Ohio.

The event, open to the public, is taking place in the industrial Ohio town at the center of the nation's immigration debate and presidential race.

Republican and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy is hosting a town hall in Springfield on Thursday to encourage dialogue for solutions in Springfield. He says his goal is to “reunite America through conversation” at the meeting at the Bushnell Event Center.

The city has been in the national spotlight since a claim went viral that Haitian immigrants — of whom 12,000 to 15,000 live in the Springfield area — were eating people’s pets. Law enforcement and city officials have said there is zero evidence to back these claims.
