Tennessee football can help its case for the College Football Playoff with against UTEP on Saturday. UT is No. 11 in the CFP rankings.

Tennessee football could be on the right side of the College Football Playoff picture again. The No. 11 Vols (9-2) pounded UTEP (2-9) in a 56-0 win on Saturday at Neyland Stadium, putting themselves potentially a win a way from being in the 12-team CFP.

Nico Iamaleava threw four touchdown passes as Tennessee blew out UTEP and got help as other College Football Playoff contenders lost.

Tennessee enters Saturday ranked No. 11 in the CFP rankings, which were announced Tuesday. The Vols are not projected to be in the field, however, because of the CFP rules that allocate automatic bids to the five highest-ranked conference champions regardless of rankings.

Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel gave senior wide receiver Bru McCoy one heck of a compliment on Saturday after UT's 56-0 win against UTEP. McCoy, who was likely playing in his final game in Neyland Stadium (unless the Vols end up hosting a College Football Playoff game in December),
