Syracuse landed one of the biggest commitments in its modern day recruiting history, with Miami (FL) Northwestern receiver Calvin Russell announcing his commitment to the Orange. At his birthday party,

Russell committed to Syracuse over Michigan, Florida State and Oregon and he’s the highest-ranked recruit since Johnnie Morant. The 6’5” Russell is ranked 4th best WR in the 2026 class by On3 and is a consensus top-50 player in the class.

Russell is ranked as the No. 5 wide receiver and No. 47 overall prospect in the Class of 2026 according to 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-5, 295-pound receiver out of Northwestern High School in Miami, Florida, chose Syracuse over Florida State, Michigan and Oregon.
