A Kolkata court is set to announce the sentencing of Sanjay Roy, convicted of the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9

The brutal rape and murder of the postgraduate trainee took place on August 9 last year. The incident had led to nationwide outrage and prolonged protests. Roy was arrested a day after the 31-year-old medic's body was found in the seminar room of the hospital.
