Nihon Kotsu, Tokyo's largest taxi company, will oversee Waymo's self-driving operations in the city and manage the Waymo One vehicle once it arrives in the country.

Waymo will deploy its driverless cars in Japan and will test its technology in another country for the first time. According to CNBC, the company will begin testing its Jaguar I-PACE vehicles in Tokyo in early 2025 and expects to remain in the country for an "extended period.
