A late summer heatwave has a firm grip across North Texas. High temperatures will be well above normal through Saturday with highs in the upper 90s and an afternoon heat index around 100-105. The cause of the heat is a strong heat dome centered over Texas into the weekend.

During Friday night lights, expect "feels-like" temperatures to reach 100 degrees. Hydrate early and often and limit time spent outside.
