In the hotly contested poll between BJP-led NDA and JMM-led INDIA bloc in Jharkhand, the people of the state seem to have restored their faith in the incumbent Hemant Soren government, show early trends.

Economist Swaminathan Aiyar suggests that the Congress-INDIA bloc might hold an advantage in the Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly elections. While exit polls indicate a tight race, Aiyar believes the BJP-led NDA's chances are slightly better in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra saw a saffron wave as the BJP-led Mahayuti decimated the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi in state elections while INDIA bloc held its fortress in Jharkhand. Bypoll results were also declared for 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats.

The Election Commission will begin counting of votes for Maharashtra, Jharkhand at 8 am today. Exit polls have predicted a victory of Mahayuti in Maharashtra and a neck-and-neck fight between NDA and INDIA in Jharkhand.
