MINNEAPOLIS — Police are investigating a fatal shooting overnight Saturday near the 2400 block of 17 Avenue South. Minneapolis police say they responded to a 911 call around 4:45 a.m. on reports of gunshots and a man down in the middle of the street.

A man has died after being found shot in south Minneapolis early Saturday morning. The shooting was reported on the 2400 block of 17th Avenue South, near East Phillips Park, with police arriving at the scene around 4:45 a.m. to find a man in his late 20s lying in the street with severe gunshot wounds.

The man, 28, was near the sidewalk in the 3300 block of West Chicago Avenue when a person on a bicycle approached him and shot at him, police said.
