The 12th-ranked Vanderbilt women’s basketball team pulled off a statement win Sunday night, upsetting No. 5 LSU 65–61 inside a packed Memorial Gymnasium. The victory kept Vanderbilt unbeaten on the season at 15–0, while LSU fell to 14–2 after a hard-fought road loss.
LSU began Sunday’s contest with a clear need to keep the Commodores (15-0, 2-0) off the boards. The Tigers’ loss to Kentucky on Thursday doubled as one of the worst rebounding games of the Mulkey era. That night, the Wildcats grabbed more than four times as many offensive boards as LSU did.
