It took until the 10th game for the Miami Hurricanes to suffer a setback in the 2024 season, which brings its chances of playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game on Dec. 7 into doubt.

The Miami Hurricanes were bumped up a spot in the College Football Playoff rankings this week. They sit at No. 8 after BYU's 17-13 loss to Kansas last weekend sent the Cougars tumbling down the rankings.

After moving up one spot in The Associated Press Top 25 Poll and two spots in other polls on Sunday, Miami moved up from No. 9 to No. 8 in Tuesday night’s CFP rankings after BYU and Tennessee tumbled following their loses over the weekend.

The Hurricanes still have the inside track to make it to the ACC Championship Game, which is their only realistic way to make the College Football Playoff.

Unsurprisingly, the Hurricanes took a tumble in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings following their first loss of the season. Fortunately for Miami, a path to the playoff is still wide open despite falling to No. 9 on Tuesday after ranking fourth in the initial rankings. UM also fell to No. 12 in other polls.
