A time-sensitive plan from Mayor Michelle Wu to shift more property tax burden onto the business and commercial sector will not reach Gov. Maura Healey’s desk this week after the Senate broke for the week and a House Republican shut down a Thursday session with a procedural tactic.

Wu has said the measure is urgently needed, but a lawmaker who does not represent any part of Boston was able to stop the bill from advancing, at least temporarily.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s property tax reclassification plan advanced in the House Thursday but not enough representatives showed up for session, enabling a South Shore Republican with concerns about the plan’s impacts on the business community to delay action on the bill.
