Stellantis is missing out on my humble opinions as Jeep Wrangler sales continue to tank. I feel like making the 2025 Jeep Wrangler exclusively pair the V6 engine with a manual transmission is limiting.

Staring with the new model year, you'll no longer be able to buy a Wrangler with the venerable Pentastar V-6 and an automatic transmission. Instead, the base model Jeep Wrangler will keep its 285-hp 3.6-liter V-6, but only with a six-speed manual. Previously, the slushbox was a $4500 upgrade.

That’s sad and perplexing as the only powertrain combination for the 2025 Gladiator is one that was recently killed off in the 2025 Wrangler. In that model, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is now paired exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission as the eight-speed automatic is reserved for the four-cylinder, Hemi V8, and plug-in hybrid powertrain.

In a lot of ways, the Jeep Wrangler is like it’s always been for 2025. It’s still a convertible, still a 4×4, and still sure to be a fan favorite. But the newest Wrangler lineup continues the model’s modernization kick by ditching a feature it’s never been without: manual crank windows.

Nearly three months after Jeep announced the Wrangler 392 Final Edition wasn’t so final, the company has revealed the other changes to the 2025 Wrangler. Unfortunately, they’re a mixed bag as a popular powertrain combination has been dropped entirely.
