The rumor that Kris Letang asked Montreal for a trade this summer came out of the mouth of a Pittsburgh radio host. It didn’t take long for the story to make its way around social networks (both here and in Pittsburgh),

“They didn’t talk to me.” Asked directly if he requested a trade, as had been repeatedly discussed on Pittsburgh sports talk radio, Letang told The Athletic, “No, I did not.” Letang conceded he was frustrated at the end of last season when the Penguins missed the playoffs for a second consecutive year. He hoped he wasn’t alone.

Speaking at the Penguins' training camp on Wednesday, September 18, the defenseman laughed off those reports.

Defenseman Kris Letang is focused on training camp and the start of the upcoming season, but he was also ready to refute offseason speculation that he asked for a trade from the Pittsburgh Penguins. He made sure to clear the air about the rumour that was put out there by radio host Mark Madden about his request to be moved to the Montreal Canadiens.
