Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has moved to clarify a light-hearted remark he made about wanting to harm himself following his team’s match in the Champions League.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has apologised for suggesting he wanted to hurt himself after his side threw away a three-goal lead against Feyenoord in the Champions League on Tuesday. Guardiola sat down at a news conference after the 3-3 draw with Feyenoord with a cut on his nose as well as some scratches across the top of his bald head.

Pep Guardiola said he did not mean to “make light of the very serious of issue of self harm” with an apparent joke about scratch marks on his face and a cut to his nose after Manchester City’s extraordinary collapse against Feyenoord.
