The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has kicked off Thursday morning in New York City with a steady rain that added ponchos and umbrellas to the lineup of balloons, floats and highly anticipated star-studded performances.

Hudson, who will perform a song from her recently released holiday album “The Gift of Love,” made her Broadway debut in the 2015 revival of “The Color Purple.” She won a Tony for co-producing 2022’s “A Strange Loop,” and will serve as co-producer on the upcoming Main Stem bow of “Smash.”
