COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — FBI investigators were on scene in the woods off Eisenhower Street in Coventry Monday morning. ABC6 reached out to the FBI for comment on why it is investigating in that area.

A prisoner convicted of murder escaped from police custody Monday and a search is ongoing, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. A man found 4-month-old and 5-month-old baby girls in a ditch outside his home after they were kidnapped in a vehicle earlier in the day.

The FBI and Coventry police conducted an investigation near a wooded area on Monday. According to an FBI spokesperson, its officials were assisting Coventry police with law enforcement activity. NBC 10 News crew observed multiple officials and a search dog investigating a wooded area near Gadoury Avenue and Read Avenue.
