The event, organised by the Indian consulate at Brampton Triveni Mandir and Community Centre, was set for 17 November to allow Indian-origin Hindus and Sikhs to renew life certificates – an important document that verifies the existence of an individual and is required for pension and non pension purposes.

The consular camp was to be held to enable Indian-origin Hindus and Sikhs to renew their mandatory life certificates.

The Brampton Triveni Mandir cancelled a life certificate event due to threats of violent protests, following a similar disruption at another Hindu temple. The temple cited intelligence from Peel Regional Police and expressed concern for the safety of the Hindu community in Canada.

The Triveni Community Centre has requested Peel Police to enhance security for the Brampton Triveni Mandir amidst threats to the Hindu community, following a violent incident at a nearby temple. Both PM Modi and Trudeau condemned the violence and emphasized the right to practice faith safely.
