U.S. stocks climbed Thursday after market superstar Nvidia and another round of companies said they’re making even fatter profits than expected. The S&P 500 pulled 0.5% higher after flipping between gains and losses several times during the day.

An index of global stocks edged higher in choppy trading on Thursday as markets digested lackluster revenue forecasts from artificial-intelligence chipmaker Nvidia, while oil prices climbed amid rising tension from the Russia-Ukraine war.

Asian markets mostly climbed Friday, boosted by Wall Street gains led by Nvidia’s strong performance and a surge in bitcoin, which briefly surpassed $99,000. Japan’s Nikkei 225 added 0.7% after inflation eased to 2.3%, while South Korea’s Kospi rose 0.8%. However, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 2%, and Shanghai’s Composite Index dropped 3.1%.
