Anurag Kashyap's directorial debut, Paanch, will finally be released in theatres. The film, which was initially made in 2003, had faced delays due to objections from the CBFC.

Paanch is based on the 1976–77 Joshi-Abhyankar serial murders in Pune. After Paanch, Kashyap went on to direct several critically acclaimed films, such as Black Friday, Dev.D, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Raman Raghav 2.0, among others. His most recent directorial venture is Kennedy, which features Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone.
